United States Lines cargo ship AMERICAN RANGER is

shown as calling at Cairnryan, essentially a shipbreaking

pier near Stranraer in Loch Ryan in South West Scotland.

Does anyone have any thoughts as to why AMERICAN

RANGER would call there, completely out of her way from

Dublin to Glasgow.

Also while berthing at West Basin she fouled her port

anchor and was unable to weigh it, and the anchor

and approximately 23 fathoms of cable lay out

overnight.

At 0700 on 14th November AMERICAN RANGER

hove astern in the berth and weighed anchor and

re-berthed.
