Contributed by Jim Howie  (Partick, Glasgow) who writes :

Glasgow Fireboat ST MUNGO (named after the Patron

Saint of Glasgow) and operated by the City of Glasgow

Fire Brigade.

She was berthed at 2 Yorkhill Quay, just beside the

Anchor Line berths and was crewed by Firemen from the

nearby Yorkhill Fire Station.   In the event of a call-out

the Firemen had to run across the busy roadway in front

of the Station, waving to vehicles to stop, to get to the boat.

At one time (at least once) there was industrial trouble

when Firemen refused to do maintenance on the boat,

saying that they would be doing workmen out of a job.
