Allan Line had VIRGINIAN built by Alex Stephen's Shipyard at Glasgow in 1905 and she served as a Royal Navy Auxiliary Cruiser during World War 1 from 1914 to 1918.
In 1920 Allan Line sold her to Swedish America Line who renamed her DROTTNINGHOLM and she served on their North Atlantic passenger service.
The second World War saw her used as a Red Cross prisoner repatriation ship, and in 1948 Swedish American Line sold her to Home Line who renamed her BRASIL.
Another name change in 1955 to HOMELAND was her last, and she was scrapped in Italy in 1955
