She was built in Newcastle in 1935 as GLEN and came into the Coast Line Group in 1943.
In 1947 she became LAIRDSROCK under Burns & Laird control (Burns & Laird being part of Coast Lines) and worked continuously on the Glasgow and West Scotland to Northern Ireland runs.

1966 saw her sold to Greek owners, and she probably worked for the next 14 years in the Mediterranean, until 1980 when she was wrecked at the Island of Karpathos, Greece. Karpathos is a Greek Island that is rich in culture and traditions. It is part of a cluster of islands called the Dodecanese in the southeast Aegean Sea. Located halfway between its more famous neighbours, the islands of Rhodes and Crete, Karpathos has beauty and hospitality that is unmatched anywhere else in Greece.
