A very large refrigerated cargo liner, designed for bringing refrigerated meat from Australia to UK, TASMANIA STAR had five refrigerated hatches and two general hatches.
546.6 feet long x 72.7 feet breadth x 37.2 feet draft she was much larger than the then cargo ships plying their trade on the world's oceans
In common with most cargo liners at that time she had accommodation to carry up to 12 passengers.
Blue Star sold her for demolition in 1975 and she was broken up in Taiwan at the end of that year |
