The "Ton-class" inshore minesweeper HMS CLYDE was built in 1953 by Camper & Nicholson and named HMS AMERTON
. In 1954 the Admiralty renamed her as HMS MERSEY 5. and she retained this name until October 1959 when she was renamed to her original name of HMS AMERTON
That year she was renamed HMS CLYDE and she retained that name until 1971 when she was sold for demolition, and broken-up at Bo'ness, Scotland, in August 1971
