I was 3rd Mate on the Shell Tanker "Hima" in 1960 when we visited Ardrossan. We first anchored in Brodick Bay, Arran Is. before going alongside. I was with my wife (we are still together) We had a great trip ashore, people were great. We stopped to have a drink at a pub that had a hall attached, there was a wedding reception there and my wife and I were invited in. Had a wonderful time. The big hit song at that time was "Itsy Bitsy yellow polka dot bikini"
