HISTORICAL NOTE
In March 1965 AYRSHIRE left Liverpool for Australia, and on 23rd March she ran aground on a reef on the island of Abd Al Kuri (near Cape Gardafui/Socotra) in the Gulf of Aden. Attempts at salvage were unsuccessful, and the ship became a total loss.
