Bill McKellar writes : From the excellent Clan Line book by Norman Middlemiss
CLAN MACQUARRIE was built for Clan Line by Alex Stephen's Shipyard at Glasgow in 1913 and when World War 1 broke out in 1914 the ship was requisitioned by the Admiralty as a Royal Naval Squadron supply ship.

On 13th June 1942 she was sunk by torpedo and gunfire by the Italian submarine DA VINCI 600 miles from Freetown (Sierra Leone - West Africa)
