   The Cunard Liner SYLVANIA arrived at Tail-of-the-Bank Anchorage today, being the first transatlantic liner to make an inbound call at Greenock this year.

   She was on her way from New York (U.S.A.) and Halifax (Nova Scotia, Canada) to Liverpool and disembarked 67 passengers to a specially chartered Clyde Ferry which brought them to Princes Pier, Greenock.

   The Cunard Line plan to make 17 outward and 17 inward calls at the Clyde this year, SYLVANIA making 6 and her sister ship CARINTHIA making 28.

   SYLVANIA was built in 1957 at the John Brown & Company Shipyard at Clydebank and is 586 feet long and of 21,989 gross tons and made an impressive sight when she anchored off Greenock.
