FISHERY CRUISER NORNA DRIVEN ASHORE ON LEWIS

HOLED AMIDSHIPS

The anchor cable of the fishery cruiser NORNA parted while she was sheltering from a gale in Loch Shell, Lewis, early yesterday morning, and she was driven aground in Lemreway Bay.   She did not develop a list and there was no danger to the crew, but she was holed amidships.

Captain Charles S. Owen, of Edinburgh, asked for assistance, and Stornoway life-saving apparatus company and the fishery cruiser ULVA are standing by.

Nine of the crew went ashore last night and were taken to Stornoway, where they spent the night in the Sailors’ Home.

It is hoped to refloat the NORNA and take her to Stornoway for further inspection and any emergency repairs.
