Mr and Mrs Donald Morrison's Golden Wedding Anniversary

Golden Wedding Celebration

Mr and Mrs Donald Morrison, 25 Castle Road, Ardrossan, celebrated their golden wedding anniversary last Saturday - by attending their eldest daughter's silver wedding anniversary celebration held in the Stewart Hotel, Glasgow.

The worthy couple were married in the Barony Church, West Kilbride, on 2nd October, 1914, and their daughter, Mrs Stella Robertson, who lives in East Kilbride, was married in the same week 25 years later.

A native of Ardrossan, Mr Morrison first worked in Ardrossan Shipyard before, in 1930, accepting a post with Shell Mex, Ardrossan, with whom he was employed until his retiral in 1954.
He was well known in junior football circles and at one time played with Winton Rovers.

Mrs Morrison, who was born in West Kilbride, worked in the Labour Exchange, Ardrossan,
The couple have a family of five - and six grand-children.

A few days earlier, on 24th September, Alfred Holt’s

 cargo ship PATROCLUS had arrived at King

 George V Dock and found that there was no labour

 available to unload her cargo from the Far East.

   Later that evening PATROCLUS left Glasgow

 for Liverpool, still  with her unloaded cargo.

   As a result, ADRIATIC COAST arrived at

Glasgow bringing the cargo which had been

transhipped to her at Liverpool from PATROCLUS
