DOCKERS ASKED TO END BOYCOTT

Washington, Tuesday

The State Department have privately urged the dockers unions in New York to end the boycott of the United Arab Republic ship CLEOPATRA because of repercussions against American ships.

The picketing of the CLEOPATRA began on April 13 as a protest against the blacklisting of American ships which had called at Israeli ports.

Arab unions imposed a boycott on U.S. ships last Friday in retaliation against the picketing. Within the past three days ten American ships have been diverted from Arab ports. Many cargoes for the Eastern Mediterranean have had to be given to foreign ships - Reuter
