HARMATTAN was at Elderslie for drydocking by the builders Lithgows of Port Glasgow prior to being handed over to her owners.

In 1971 she was at anchor off Karachi (Pakistan) when she was struck by a missile fired from an Indian plane (India and Pakistan were at war at the time). She was badly damaged, and was scrapped in Pakistan shortly afterwards in 1972.
