GRANUAILE was employed by the Irish Light's Service to maintain, service and supply the lighthouses, light-ships and buoys on the Irish coast. It is not known why this Irish-owned and crewed-and based vessel was registered in Liverpool and not in Dublin. When GRANUAILE departed Ardrossan Dockyard the Harbour Log-book shows her as carrying "Explosives part casoc ? although the "casoc" is difficult to read |
