Tug SEAWAY at the stern and tug STRONGBOW at the bow assisted the Shell Oil Tanker HINDSIA stern-first from the tanker berth at Ardrossan Harbour, through the 300-feet wide Harbour entrance (between the breakwater and the Lighthouse Pier) out to the Roadstead, where they let go their towropes.

HINDSIA then proceeded on passage down the Irish Sea and across the North Atlantic to Curacao in the Caribbean Sea.
