U.S. President approves a study of a sea-level canal linking the Atlantic and Pacific oceans

U.S. President Johnson today signed a Bill which provides for a commission to be set up to study the question of a site for a sea-level canal linking the Atlantic and Pacific oceans.

   The President called on Congress to provide $5million (about £1.8million) in the current fiscal year to finance the study.
