WRESTLER was attached to the bow of CLUTHA RIVER and tug SEAWAY was attached to the tanker's stern.

The tugs towed the CLUTHA RIVER stern-first from the berth to the roadstead, and, when released by the Pilot, both tugs let go their towing hawsers and left the tanker, WRESTLER leaving Ardrossan to return to Greenock
