   Cable ship ALERT arrived from sea at Rothesay Dock, Clydebank, Glasgow at 2345 on 2nd August 1963.   She tied up at berth 11 with her stern on the 13th pawl, and her draught forward was 15’ 6” and aft 18’ 6” and she was carrying a cargo of cable.

   The steam lighter (Clyde puffer) WARLIGHT came alongside on 4th August, and at 0800 on 5th August ALERT began unloading cable into the puffer’s hold.   At 1400 on 6th August ALERT finished unloading the cable to WARLIGHT.

   At 1410 on 8th August ALERT left Rothesay Dock, light-ship ( = no cargo on board = empty of cargo) and moved a short distance upriver to Elderslie Wall to await entry to Elderslie Drydock.   Her draught forward was 14’ 10” and aft 18’ 03”
