The Beira Port Authority in Mozambique reported that the British cargo ship TRENEGLOS had been in collision with the Greek tanker JOANNA V in Beira Port.

The tanker had arrived about two weeks previously amid controversy about bringing oil to Beira in contravention of the British Royal Navy blockade of oil imports which could be going to Rhodesia.

JOANNA V sustained damage to her stern.   There was no report of any damage to TRENEGLOS, a general cargo ship 505 feet long and 9,976 gross tons and owned by New Zealand Shipping Co. Ltd., London, and managed by Hain-Nourse Ltd, London.

Additional note : Does anyone have details of JOANNA V ?
