Italian cargo ship CARMELA FASSIO tied-up at berth 2 Shieldhall Riverside Quay, Glasow (head East) at 1445 on 23rd November 1963, having arrived at Glasgow from Philadelphia via Meadowside Quay. Her draft on arrival at Riverside Quay was 12' 6" for'ard and 24' 6" aft, and the stevedores A Main & Company began discharging her cargo of 4,500 tons of Soya Beans at 0800 on 25th November. Her Agents were T L Duff of Glasgow 26th November (exact time unknown- but let's assume 0900) the Harbour oiler CLANITY came alongside and bunkered her with 350 tons of fuel oil 0730 on 29th November saw her shifting 30 feet ahead in the berth At 1930 on 29th November the discharging of cargo was completed, and her draft for'ard was 10' 9" and aft 18' 10" 2215 on 30th November saw CARMELA FASSIO departing Glasgow light-ship, for'ard draught 10' 10" and aft 18 feet, for a passage across the great stormy waters of Winter North Atlantic to Port Arthur in Texas (USA) |
