Steel & Bennie tugs STRONGBOW (tugmaster A McInnes) and WRESTLER (tugmaster E Docherty) had travelled from Greenock and arrived at ocean tanker VERMONT which was waiting in Ardrossan Roadstead. STRONGBOW attached her tow rope to VERMONT’s bow and WRESTLER attached her rope to the tanker’s stern. The tugs, towing VERMONT from the Roadstead, passed through the Ardrossan Harbour entrance and berthed the tanker at berth 12 Ocean Tanker berth at 1050am. At 1110am when VERMONT was all fast at the berth the Harbour Pilot released both tugs and they left Ardrossan to make their 28 mile passage back to Victoria Harbour in Greenock. |
