HMS Tamar is a Batch 2 River-class offshore patrol vessel of the Royal Navy. Named after the River Tamar in England, this is the seventh Royal Navy ship to be named Tamar. She is the fourth Batch 2 River-class vessel to be built and was formally commissioned on 4 June 2020. I have enclosed some photos when she was at the No. 1 Elderslie Dry Dock, Glasgow being fitted out. Perhaps most interestingly, she’s the ‘greenest’ ship in the Royal Navy – fitted with ‘catalytic converters’ which reduce nitrogen-based emissions from her engine exhausts by up to 95 per cent. HMS Tamar was laid down on 8th December 2016, launched on the 10th October 2018 and fully commissioned 4th June 2020.
Photo one shows the bow of Tamar in the Elderslie Dry Docks. Photo two and three shows Tamar port side. I hope you like them.
