Railway locomotives and tenders were built at the Springburn Works in Glasgow then brought on heavy road trailers to Finnieston Quay, Glasgow, where the massive 175 ton crane would lift them onto ships which carried them to India, South Africa, etc.
A quaint indication of the times is at the top of the image where a driver is driving a horse-driven waggon along the quayside. |
