SD NORTHERN RIVER had left Great Harbour, Greenock and was passing Custom House Quay, Greenock and heading outbound to sea for military operations.

SD NORTHERN RIVER is also seen passing the cruise liner COSTA FORTUNA berthed at Ocean Terminal, Greenock. which had just arrived with a large number of German passengers.

 

Between the two vessels, in the far distance and difficult to see is a small grey-coloured ship.   It is the British Royal Naval Mine Counter-Measures warship H.M.S. PEMBROKE, which was conducting exercises with H.M.S. BROCKLESBY.
