Painting of Turnberry Lighthouse and Ailsa Craig (Firth of Clyde, Scotland, U.K.)

This lovely watercolour painting of South Ayrshire (Firth of Clyde, Scotland, U.K.) shows the Turnberry Point Lighthouse, the Trump Turnberry Resort golf course, and, in the distance, the island of Ailsa Craig.

The lighthouse was built in 1873 and is now unmanned.   it’s lantern is 29 metres (95 feet) above high water and there are 76 circular steps from the bottom to the top.

The lighthouse and associated buildings are part of the Trump Organization Golf Resort at Turnberry (yes = the former U.S. President Donald Trump) and the golf course has a world-wide reputation and the Hotel is of the highest standard and is visited by many top celebrities and very important people.

Ailsa Craig is an uninhabited 1,114 feet (about 300m) high island of volcanic rock and granite in the outer reaches of the Firth of Clyde.
