While the liner was at Greenock Ocean Terminal there was a strong southerly wind and the master / pilot was concerned that the ship would be exposed on her port side to the wind gusts with the possibility of her breaking her mooring ropes and being blown broadside into the shipping channel. So the decision was taken to employ two tugs to attend the ship throughout her nine-hour stay at the Ocean Terminal and the tugs were stationed on the starboard side of the liner and continually pushed her securely against the quayside. The first image shows tug ANGLEGARTH pushing against the liner's starboard quarter, and the other tug pushing just under the bridge is unknown. |
