Harbour lights fires to thaw frozen coal

From "The Ardrossan and Saltcoats Herald" dated 8th February 1963

By "Puffer"

At Ardrossan Harbour, like other ports, fires have had to be lit under steel railway waggons to thaw the frozen coal and allow it to be shipped.
It is many years since such measures have been necessary at Ardrossan.
