Ailsa Shipbuilding Company Limited on Friday launched at Troon S.S. Grecian, which is being built for the Ellerman Lines Limited, and is intended for their Mediterranean trade.

The vessel, built to Lloyds highest class, is about 362 feet long overall, with a beam of 49 feet 10 inches, and a depth to shelter deck of 32 ft 9 inches.
The deadweight ability of the vessel will be about 4070, and the gross tonnage 3280 tons.
The machinery is to consist of one set of triple expansion surface condensing engines in combination with Bauer-Wach exhaust turbine, the boilers being oil-fired under Howden's forced draught system.
The naming ceremony was performed on January 18 by Mrs. J. Douglas Latta, but owing to stress of weather the actual launch had been postponed until Friday.
