Largs Lifeboat rescues motor boat "Joanne" and crew off Innellan

From "The Ardrossan & Saltcoats Herald" dated Friday 10th July 1964

The Clyde steamer "Duchess of Hamilton" stood by a motor boat with four occupants as it dragged its anchor in a westerly gale off Innellan on Tuesday.
With the boat, the "Joanne," in danger of being driven ashore, the steamer skipper radioed for help to the pilot station at Greenock, and a call went out to the RNLI inshore rescue station at Largs.

The rescue boat, manned by a volunteer crew comprising Mr. Ian Hale, a local publican; Mr. Fairlie McGill, a fireman, and Mr. Tom Atkinson, a police cadet, made the six-mile crossing to Innellan, took aboard the four occupants of the boat, and landed them at Innellan.
