Proposal for a "Clyde Port Authority"

From "The Ardrossan & Saltcoats Herald" dated Friday 4th September 1964.

PROPOSED CLYDE SCHEME

Troon harbour, and the ports of Ayr and Ardrossan, are unlikely to be included, at least initially, in a proposed scheme to unify control of the Clyde.

The proposed scheme would merge control of the functions of the Clyde Navigation Trust, the Greenock Harbour Trust, the Clyde Lighthouses Trust, and the Clyde Pilotage Authority.

A new authority, probably to be known as the Clyde Port Authority, would have jurisdiction from Glasgow to Cumbrae Head, the present limitation of the Clyde Lighthouses Trust.
