The Troopship EMPRESS OF SCOTLAND berthed at Liverpool with 1700 troops and civilians, and completed her duty of eight years as a troopship with the Ministry of War Transport.

After being stripped of her troop fittings the liner will be handed back to her owners, Canadian Pacific Steamships, and will come to the Clyde and be refitted by Fairfield Shipbuilding and Engineering Company at Govan, and it is expected that the work will take two years to complete.   She will then return to her owner’s transatlantic passenger service from U.K. to Canada.
