Glen Sannox (1925) on Ayr slipway for overhaul

Port of RegistryGlasgow

From "Ayrshire Post" dated 4th February 1949

ON AYR SLIPWAY

The shapliness of the T.S.S. Glen Sannox which has, since she was built in 1925 carried thousands of holidaymakers from Ardrossan to Brodick, Lamlash and Whiting Bay, was seen to full advantage this week as she rested on the slip at Ayr harbour where she was taken on Tuesday to undergo preparation for the summer service.

Craftsmen of the Ayr Engineering and Constructional Company who are carrying out repairs to her fender bar and putting in additional lavatory accommodation, stood back from their work to remark on her beauty of line and described her as a "bonny model."

New deck planking has already been fitted at Port Glasgow and when she leaves the slip in about eleven days time she will be again afloat in all the glory of new paint work and ready for another cruising season.

Credited with a speed of 23 3/4 knots on trial, she has proved to be a worthy successor to the old "Glen Sannox" which was broken up at Port Glasgow in 1925, after serving for a short period as a trooper between Southampton and Havre during the first war.
