Stranded passengers taken by launch from Arran to Fairlie

From "The Ardrossan and Saltcoats Herald" dated 1st March 1963

Four day-trippers who missed the last car ferry from Brodick last Saturday, had to be taken by motor launch to Fairlie.
On the way back to Arran the owner of the motor launch had to re-route the vessel to Lochranza owing to fog.

and WRESTLER (tugmaster E Docherty) had travelled

from Greenock and arrived at ocean tanker VERMONT

which was waiting in Ardrossan Roadstead.   STRONGBOW

attached her tow rope to VERMONT’s bow and WRESTLER

attached her rope to the tanker’s stern.

   The tugs, towing VERMONT from the Roadstead, passed

through the Ardrossan Harbour entrance and berthed the

tanker at berth 12 Ocean Tanker berth at 1050am.

   At 1110am when VERMONT was all fast at the berth

the Harbour Pilot released both tugs and they left Ardrossan

to make their 28 mile passage back to Victoria Harbour

in Greenock.
