The flagship of the NATO Atlantic Striking Fleet, the heavy cruiser USS Northampton will visit the Clyde from February 22 to 24, when she will be berthed at Princes Pier, Greenock.

As for the name of the vessel MAIDAN," Wikipedia advises that Maidan is the largest urban park in Kolkata (Calcutta) in the Indian state of West Bengal. It is a vast stretch of field, and home to numerous play grounds, including the famous cricketing venue Eden Gardens.

Ardrossan Dockyard Ltd., who last year received an order for eight motor barges from the Caribbean Equipment Company, have been given a ninth barge to build because of the loss of one of eight similar barges built in Holland while it was being towed with others on a delivery voyage. |
