As for the name of the vessel MAIDAN," Wikipedia advises that Maidan is the largest urban park in Kolkata (Calcutta) in the Indian state of West Bengal.
It is a vast stretch of field, and home to numerous play grounds, including the famous cricketing venue Eden Gardens.

Dockyard to build another barge for Caribbean Equipment Company

From "The Ardrossan & Saltcoats Herald" newspaper dated 26th February 1960.

Ardrossan Dockyard Ltd., who last year received an order for eight motor barges from the Caribbean Equipment Company, have been given a ninth barge to build because of the loss of one of eight similar barges built in Holland while it was being towed with others on a delivery voyage.
