AJOY was a brand new bucket-dredger ship built by Fleming and Ferguson at their shipyard at Paisley. She was operated by the Port of Calcutta for employment in dredging the docks and river.
The ship was being drydocked prior to being handed over to her owners.

   Bunnahabhain is pronounced "Bunn-na-ha-venn" and means "mouth of the river" in the scots  gaelic language is often more easily spoken and written as Bonahaven (pronounced "Bon-na- haven").
