Her Majesty’s Telegraph Ship ALERT, built in 1961 and 417 feet long, arrived from Sea at berth 11 Rothesay Dock, Clydebank, Glasgow, at 0445 on 4th October 1962, light-ship, and draught forward 18’ 6” and aft 19’ 4”.
She loaded underwater telephone cable to link south-west Scotland near Portpatrick with Northern Ireland.
On 9th October the oiler APEXITY came alongside and bunkered ALERT with 120 tons of fuel oil.
ALERT left Rothesay Dock for Donaghadee (Northern Ireland) at 1010 on 23rd October, drawing 18 feet forward and 19’ 8” aft. |
