Steel & Bennie's tug WRESTLER arrived at Ardrossan roadstead from Greenock, and tug-master Docherty manoeuvered the tug to the stern of POLYSTAR and attached the tow-line.

With the tug SEAWAY at the bow and WRESTLER at the stern both tugs assisted the Einar Rasmussen's Tanker POLYSTAR bow-first from the Roadstead and through the 300-feet wide Harbour entrance to the Tanker berth in Ardrossan

 Her Majesty’s Telegraph Ship ALERT, built in 1961 and 417 feet long, arrived from Sea at berth 11 Rothesay Dock, Clydebank, Glasgow, at 0445 on 4th October 1962, light-ship, and draught forward 18’ 6” and aft 19’ 4”.

   She loaded underwater telephone cable to link south-west Scotland near Portpatrick with Northern Ireland.

   On 9th October the oiler APEXITY came alongside and bunkered ALERT with 120 tons of fuel oil.

   ALERT left Rothesay Dock for Donaghadee (Northern Ireland) at 1010 on 23rd October, drawing 18 feet forward and 19’ 8” aft.

Now that the tanker was made fast at the berth, the Pilot released WRESTLER, and tug-master Docherty took his tug from Ardrossan to make his way back up the Firth of Clyde to return to Greenock
