Frigate HMS Pheasant arrives at Troon for demolition after eventful passage

From "The Ardrossan and Saltcoats Herald" dated 18th January 1963.

The frigate "Pheasant" arrived safely in tow at Troon Shipbuilding yard on Tuesday forenoon after a rather adventurous passage from Plymouth.
On Thursday of last week near the Isles of Scilly, during a gale, she broke away from the tug "Warden" and her 15-man crew were taken off by helicopter.
Last Saturday they were re-embarked - by the same method - and the journey to Troon was continued without further mishap.

Tug "Warden" tows HMS "Pheasant" to Troon for demolition

The frigate "Pheasant" arrived safely in tow at Troon Shipbuilding yard on Tuesday forenoon after a rather adventurous passage from Plymouth.

When the Harbour Pilot released CAMPAIGNER her Master R Cronk turned the tug and left Ardrossan to return to Greenock

The tractors in her cargo were most likely built in the factory of Massey-Ferguson in Kilmarnock, Ayrshire - not very far from Ardrossan Harbour.

Eventually FIAT was sold and later owned in Suva, Fiji. In 1976 she ran aground on Myrmidon Reef near Townsville, Queensland, Australia and was a total loss
