Ardrossan harbour hut destroyed by fire |
From The Ardrossan & Saltcoats Herald dated Friday 13th March, 1964
HUT DESTROYED BY FIRE
But for the prompt action of Ardrossan Fire Brigade, a fire which broke out last Sunday in a shed near the railway line behind the premises of the Anglo Continental Container Services Ltd, could have caused considerable damage.
About six feet away from the shed, separated only by a wall, is a diesel tank. And if the fire had not been tackled promptly, the results could have been serious.
The shed, which is used as a workshop, was completely destroyed, but a workers' canteen which is only about three feet away from the shed was not damaged.
The contents of the shed included ten gallons of paraffin and 3cwts of coal.
The smoke from the fire was seen several miles away. |
