TARZAN arrived at berth 4 Rothesay Dock, Clydebank, Glasgow, with her head East, at 0540 on 31st July 1963. She was carrying 360 tons of scrap metal from Belfast, and her draught forward was 8’ 06” and aft 10’ 08.” The ship’s Agents were J. S. Braid, of Glasgow. J. F. Wilson Stevedores commenced unloading at 0800 on 31st July and finished at 1130 that morning. At 1220 on 31st July the vessel shifted from berth 3 to berth 9 Rothesay Dock. Honeyman Stevedores commenced loading her outward cargo of 349 tons of Pig Iron at 0800 on 1st August, and completed at 1415 that afternoon. The ship’s after coaming of number 1 hold was damaged by a railway wagon, and the damage was repaired by the Clyde Navigation Trust’s Workshops. TARZAN sailed from Rothesay Dock for Rotterdam at 0115 on 2nd August, her draught forward 7’ 6” and aft 10’ 6” |

The 211-feet long Everard general cargo coaster ADAPTITY arrived at Rothesay Dock, Clydebank, Glasgow at 1830 on 2nd August 1963, and tied up at berth 5 with her head North. She had come from Drogheda, Ireland, with 1,122 tons of Clinker and her draught forward was 13’ 06” and aft 14’ 06” While at berth 5 on 3rd August (the Log Book shows 2nd August – this must be wrong as the vessel did not arrive until 1830 that day -) from 0700 to 0800 ADAPTITY bunkered 29.64 tons of fuel oil from a road tanker. At 0900 on 3rd August she shifted from berth 5 to berth 1 (with her head South) and at 1040 that morning she shifted again, this time from berth 1 to berth 2 (with her head South). J. F. Wilson Stevedores commenced unloading at 0800 on 5th August and completed unloading at 1600 that afternoon. About 30 minutes after finishing unloading, ADAPTITY left Rothesay Dock at 1633 on 5th August, and, being light-ship ( = empty = no cargo on board) and drawing 4’ 10” forward and 12’ 06” aft, made her way down the River Clyde on passage to Partington on the Manchester Ship Canal. |

Cable ship ALERT arrived from sea at Rothesay Dock, Clydebank, Glasgow at 2345 on 2nd August 1963. She tied up at berth 11 with her stern on the 13th pawl, and her draught forward was 15’ 6” and aft 18’ 6” and she was carrying a cargo of cable. The steam lighter (Clyde puffer) WARLIGHT came alongside on 4th August, and at 0800 on 5th August ALERT began unloading cable into the puffer’s hold. At 1400 on 6th August ALERT finished unloading the cable to WARLIGHT. At 1410 on 8th August ALERT left Rothesay Dock, light-ship ( = no cargo on board = empty of cargo) and moved a short distance upriver to Elderslie Wall to await entry to Elderslie Drydock. Her draught forward was 14’ 10” and aft 18’ 03” |
